It's been 7 years since our last documentary and a lot of things have happened in the meantime!
Here you can watch a little portrait about us and our project!
Enjoy! 🙂
ICK MACH WELLE is a project dedicated to supporting artists with disabilities and promoting inclusion in Berlin’s club and cultural scene in general. It has been run by the Berlin-based music label KILLEKILL since 2018.
In Berlin-Friedrichshain, we operate an accessible studio with an attached office where workshops, music lessons, and sessions take place. With a large network of mentors, we have established a mentoring program that brings together young artists with disabilities and established artists from the scene. Here, knowledge is shared, participants learn from one another, and collaborative live acts or bands emerge.
For us, inclusion goes far beyond “accessibility” or “the integration of people with disabilities.” We take our participants’ own ideas as the starting point for our work and connect them with established artists in the Berlin scene who help them bring their visions to life. This results in collaborative artistic work on equal footing—and, almost as a side effect, genuine, lasting connections with the local scene. Our unique approach fosters a new sense of self-confidence among the artists. They become active participants; their perspectives are recognized, and their art is valued.
There are currently 12 musical projects, DJs, bands, and producers. The musical spectrum ranges from Brazilian beats to house, techno, dub, and hip hop, all the way to highly experimental audio/video installations. The successes are impressive: There have been numerous releases (digital and on vinyl) as well as performances at renowned clubs like Berghain or ://About.Blank and shows at festivals such as Fusion, Berlinale, PopKultur, and Nation of Gondwana. Last but not least, there have been artist residencies in Berlin and Lucerne, as well as a nomination for the German music award Polyton 2024.
Due to current budget cuts in the cultural sector, the very existence of our project is in acute danger. Since March 2026, we have received no funding whatsoever. Everyone involved has been working on a volunteer basis ever since, and we cover the running costs out of our own pockets. We continue to diligently submit grant applications and are currently also applying for non-profit status for our company. Until then: Help us keep the project alive, because:
“Entweder feiern alle, oder keine:r!” (Either we all celebrate together, or no one should!)
(Werner Soyeaux alias Bläck Dävil)
We thank everyone involved for their great work and our participants for the great music and for everything!
