Bläck Dävil

Werner aka Bläck Dävil is a stubborn and unusual guy who is hard to get out of your head, both as a person and as an artist. His motto could be: Turn shit into gold. Or turning broken computers into (halfway) functioning ones. Or turning a found record player into a few euros.

Somehow it always goes on and Werner never stands still, he makes barter deals with half the city, and somehow he always manages to gather everything he needs to keep making music.

In 1998 at the Love Parade, as a 14-year-old, between Siegessäule and Tiergarten, between "Over the Rainbow", "Computerstaat" and "How Much Is The Fish", he discovered his love for humming bass and fast beats. Since then, he has been scouring Berlin's record shops for samples that he can chop up and destroy, sampling faster, harder and louder from all genres to create his own mix: Schlager, hip hop, gabber, hard tek, metal, punk, rap become a danceable eclectic amalgam: colourfully thrown together, headstrong, unheard, bold and somehow it all sounds like one big party.

Werner has also been part of the Ick mach Welle! project since 2018 and has also tried his hand on stage in these contexts. Anyone who has seen and heard Bläck Dävil live knows about the unique energy he brings to the dancefloor, whether behind a drum machine, a synthesiser or on the mic. Bläck Dävil is the dervish who makes you laugh and dance.

After a collaboration with experimental musician MFX in 2020 for the Krake Festival, there was a collaboration with DJ Normal 4 in 2021 as part of the Warning showcase for the PopKultur Festival and his first solo live set at the Krake Festival 2021. Further solo performances took place at Nuits Sonores, Karneval der Kulturen, Spaceship Berlin, as well as again at the KRAKE Festival 2023. His first solo vinyl EP 'Schnäll Schnäll' was released in 2023 on KILLEKILL.
